Butterflies and more flutterbies...

In my next life time this will be definetely on the top of my list 'to do'... It is a design from Lynette Anderson and I think it is lovely - but way beyond my skill base - still it is nice to look... The colourways of this quilt reminds me of my visits to the Butterfly House at the Melbourne Zoo - full of colour and movement...

She has an alternate colourway - minus the pooch - so soft and light - it almost looks like it could just fly away - just like a butterfly... I am torn between which I like the best - but of course I will never have to make a choice this lifetime will I? :)

Still stitching...

This is my in-between stitching until the April BOM is released - I have had this little kit for quite a few years and while I was searching for something else I found it. I am not sure what I think of it yet - the thread isn't DMC and I think it is making a difference to the overall stitching quality - or perhaps it is just my imagination...

A couple of weeks ago I received a Spotlight gift voucher for $10 - I wasn't going to bother with it as I instictively knew that it was just a lure for me to spend more money - which I did :) But last Sunday I thought I would just go and have a look since I didn't go to the Stitches and Craft show - the quilting book was a find at it was only $19.95 - it sells for $29.95 elsewhere and well, I liked the little butterfly buttons and I had forgotten the week before that I needed another DMC thread to continue on with the BOM stitcheries - so that went onto the pile plus the fabric was already reduced and I think it cost me $2.50... I think all in all it cost me another $16 ...

Yesterday - Saturday I went to my stitching group for the first time this year - it was lovely to spend a couple of hours stitching and laughing with a great group of ladies - it cleared my mind and lightened my spirit - an oasis in a neverending desert of everyday life.

Until next time...

BOM 3 - JOY

I finished 'JOY' today - this one took me just over a week to do - I won't be using the background material - it was the closest thing handy when I wanted to photograph it. The fourth BOM - won't be released until April 7th so I will have to find something else to do in the meantime... Gail has another cute design here I only have to decide whether to use a variegated thread or just one colour for it...

This could be my in-between stitching - yes, G I can hear you - it isn't like I haven't got a million other things I could be doing... But these projects are 'good travellers' so I can take them to work and do them in my break time. Once my needle is threaded they don't take much thinking about...

I think why I like Gail's designs so much is because of the words and the designs themselves are simple - I am all for simple these days...

sharonb's Stitch Explorer March challenge for March is Assisi embroidery - and I have always wanted to have a go at that too... Too many stitching temptations - not enough time...

Now where is that needle???

BOM 2 - Merry

Dreadful photo - but 'Merry ' is finished... The material under the block is a forest green - but I am not going to use it as the the border yet until I have seen a couple more blocks and have more of a feel for the quilt as a whole...

I am waiting on Saturday for BOM 3 -we have a long weekend here in Victoria so guess what I will be doing...

Some stitching and some page turning...

I have all but finished the stitching part of the first two blocks of Gail Pan's free BOM 'Christmas Wish... I haven't as yet done the sewing as I am still trialling suitable borders - I quite like the material that the'love' block is sitting against...

'Merry' still needs the flowers stitched - and try as I might - today hasn't been the day to do it...

I am happy with what I have achieved so far - my back stitching has improved the more I have done and I feel more confident in try some more of my stitchery based projects... They have been easy to do and quite therapeutic - I mostly have stitched them before work each morning... I have found a spot that offers good light and a comfy chair... I can see this coming togethere quite nicely...

Gail Pan - as I discovered - is a local lady who produces some really appealing quilts and stitcheries including
this one - I have already bought the magazine and it is definitely a possibility to try - in fact I have just the position in the hall - now if only I had the time.... Plus her new quilt design 'speaks' to me as well - but I am choosing not to hear - just yet :)

Yes - I know - another one - this book didn't even make it to the shelf when it came into the shop on Friday - I bought it straight away - I justified buying it (to myself) that since I wasn't going to the Australasian Quilt Convention this year I could treat myself to something since I wouldn't be spending money on what I might have bought had I gone... That makes loads of sense doesn't it - but it works for me - lol...

It works on the red, white and blue theme and has just some wonderful designs to do in cross stitch as well as more traditional stitches plus heaps of ideas to ponder and plan over... G - I think you would really like this book...
