When you wish...

... upon a star. I had 'the blues' one morning before I started work. I went into the newsagents to have a browse and found this little kit attached to an English magazine called CrossStitcher. I bought the magazine and started the kit immediately. This is very unheard of behaviour for me as I usually bring it home to savor - but not this day...

As a little kid I loved to look up at the stars and imagine. I think the image of the little bear looking hopefully skyward perhaps reflects my mood of late - perhaps I am too looking to the heavens for an answer to Life's mysteries..

This won't be one that I keep as I have someone in mind for it when I finish it...

I have spent more time than I care to admit to blog hopping... I just can't seem to settle on anything at this end. What everyone else is doing seems far more interesting that what I am. I think that because I am still in the throes of house decluttering that makes me more restless...

Unfortunately Linden didn't get realised as I am in so much of a mess I couldn't even think straight let alone do something creative.

Next week is the actual exhibition of all the entries and that I am really looking forward to seeing...

Linden

In a moment of madness I have entered the Linden Post Card Show. E had been encouraged to enter and for weeks we have had numerous entry forms laying around. On the very last day in its closing hour I had this unexplained urge to enter it too. Hastily downloading a entry form from the Net, filling it out and faxing it off I too became a Linden PostCard exhibitor...

Perhaps the motivation behind this creative impulse was a couple of reasons: to have a deadline and stick to it, and to further explore and recreate one of the crazy quilt blocks which I had done as part of a CQRR in 2006 - unfortunately this block and four others disappeared into the ethers - never to be returned to their respective owners. I think I subconciously have mourned the loss of this particular block as I was the first one to work on it and set the theme as an underwater piece which included a fantasy seahorse - I had loved doing it and have always thought that I would create it again for myself - but like a lot of things it was on the 'wish list' of creative things I might do' given time'. Since no one is going to give me time I have to seriously create some space in which to pursue this creative itch I have - Linden seemed more than a reasonable reason to do just that.

I thought it was also a great way to start a New Year with a creative endeavour - sort of set the standard and pace for the rest of the year...

Op - shop find...

I found this transfer catalogue in an op-shop in Healsville - it cost me all of $2. Flipping through it I thought how perfectly it could be adapted for my stitching. I thought that some of the border designs (middle page) would work well as seam treatments for my crazy patchwork - when ever I get back to it.

The quilting designs (last page) could be adapted as motifs for the middle of patches or as focus block.

The possibilities are endless and this 'find' has filled me with all sorts of inspiration and has offered me a starting point again as I have become quite 'stale' of late. Perhaps somewhere in the few days off I'm having at Christmas there might be a window of opportunity to explore more.

Library Book

I found this on one of my frequent trips to the library... From the quick flick I have had so far looks like I could enjoy spending a good few hours 'lost' between its pages ...

Angelface...

Here she is ... Not much accomplished for November. To tell you the truth I have become a little weary of her - I am sure it is only because this time of the year becomes so silly - hence the name 'silly season'. Perhaps in January when its all behind us I can go back to relaxed stitching...

CQRR06 - Last Block..

This is the last block for what has been a very long saga in CQRRO6 over on a craft forum... My contribution is a the the top of the block - mostly beaded with the word 'friends' in backstitch. Tomorrow the block leaves for the last leg of its journey - home to NSW. Roz I hope you like it...

AngelFace...

Look familiar??? Whilst this isn't quite stitching it is related in a lateral kind of way. This I started about... umm - yep so long ago I can't even remember... I traced her from the cross stitch design and obviously started to paint her - somewhere in the scheme of things to happen - it hasn't!!!! Since I have been stitching her my thoughts have wandered back to the painting which is on the lid of a heart shaped box - after a bit of a hunt I found her way up in a cupboard... Was my original idea to have both the stitched version and the box??? I don't think that was the intention - it was more that I liked the image - the angel with the peace dove. Angels, peace doves and hearts would be up there as far as favorite motifs. My reasons are varied to why - perhaps I am just a unashamedly romantic idealist at heart...

I haven't picked up a paint brush in ages but looking through a book on decorative painting at work has whetted my appetite to perhaps giving it another go...
